【摘要】:Thispracticeshouldbeusedonlytocomparespecimensofthesamematerialandsamegeneralappearance.Forexample,aseriesofspecimenstobecomparedshouldhavegenerallysimilargloss,texture,and(ifnotopaque)thickness,andtranslucency.Foryellownessmeasurement,thispracticeislimitedtospecimenshavingdominantwavelengthintherange570to580nm,orMunsellhueapproximately2.5GYto2.5Y.Forwhitenessmeasurement,thispracticeislimitedtospecimenshavingMunsellvaluegreaterthan8.3(CIEYgreaterthan65)andMunsellchromanogreaterthan0.5forBhues,0.8forYhues,and0.3forallotherhues(see3.3.1).Thecombinationofmeasurementandcalculationleadingtoindicesofyellownessorwhitenessisapsychophysicalprocess,thatis,theproceduresspecifiedaredesignedtoprovidenumberscorrelatingwithvisualestimatesmadeunderspecifiedtypicalobservingconditions.Becausevisualobservingconditionscanvarywidely,usersshouldcomparecalculatedindiceswithvisualestimatestoensureapplicability.SomestandardsaddressingthevisualestimationofcolorandcolordifferencearePracticesD1535,D1729,E1360,andE1541,andGuideE1499.Thispracticedoesnotcoverthepreparationofspecimens,aprocedurethatmayaffectsignificantlythequantitiesmeasured.Ingeneral,specimensshouldbepreparedandpresentedformeasurementinthemannerthatisstandardforthetestbeingperformed.Selectenoughspecimensorspecimenareastoprovideanaverageresultthatisrepresentativeofeachsampletobetested.SeePracticeE1345.1.1Thispracticeprovidesnumbersthatcorrelatewithvisualratingsofyellownessorwhitenessofwhiteandnear-whiteorcolorlessobject-colorspecimens,viewedindaylightbyanobserverwithnormalcolorvision.Whitetextiles,paints,andplasticsareafewofthematerialsthatcanbedescribedbytheindicesofyellownessorwhitenesscalculatedbythispractice.1.2Foracompleteanalysisofobjectcolors,byaspecifiedobserverandunderaspecifiedilluminant,useofthreeparametersisrequired.Fornear-whitespecimens,however,itisoftenusefultocalculatesingle-numberscalesofyellownessorwhiteness.Thispracticeprovidesrecommendedequationsforsuchscalesanddiscussestheirderivationsanduses,andlimitstotheirapplicability(seealsoRef()).1.3&solely-SI-units;Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
